This position oversees the daily operations of interlibrary loan (ILL) services for the University Libraries on the main campus, including borrowing, lending, and document delivery requests. Responsibilities include processing ILL requests, assisting patrons with the use of ILL services, and coordinating resource-sharing activities with other libraries, consortia, and vendors. The position also supervises staff, manages workflows and systems, develops and enforces policies related to ILL, and monitors compliance with copyright and licensing guidelines
Required Qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of interlibrary loan and resource sharing services practices
- Considerable knowledge of effective customer service skills
- Considerable interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
- Basic ability to develop and maintain technical documentation on unit procedures and practices
- Basic mathematical skills to reconcile financial data and perform statistical data collection
- Basic skills in word processing, spreadsheet applications and Internet searching
- Considerable analytical and problem-solving skills
- Considerable time-management and organizational skills
- Considerable ability to follow and interpret complex policies and procedures in the execution of detail-oriented work
- Basic ability to work independently and with others, in teams and on committees
- Basic ability to maintain confidentiality and to deal with people utilizing tact, discretion and diplomacy
- Basic ability to work within time constraints
- Basic experience performing highly detailed tasks and in following and interpreting complex policies and procedures in the execution of detail-oriented work
- Basic experience providing customer service in a public service setting
- Basic experience with database searching and using software applications to perform detailed task
- Basic experience training staff
- Basic experience searching bibliographic databases such as OCLC
Additional Considerations (supplemental knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, licensure, certification:
- Basic experience with Interlibrary loan systems (e.g., OCLC, IL Liad, Rapid ILL)
- Basic experience with integrated library systems / library services platforms
- Some knowledge of copyright and fair use principles in library contexts
- Some experience in shipping/receiving (UPS, USPS, Fedex)
- Some experience working in an academic library
- Some knowledge of the general support activities of library operations, demonstrating understanding of library organization, procedures and techniques
- Some supervisory experience
Conditions of Employment:
Work schedule is Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm
