Corrections Education Teacher, Welding Education

The Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit (CSIU) is currently accepting applications for a full-time position in a corrections education residential youth treatment program located in Danville, PA.  This position is responsible for the daily instruction in the area of welding education/technology for students in a particular school program on the corrections campus, based on individual need.

Salary: $54,545 to 72,732 depending on credentials and experience.  Position follows a 188 days per year, 11-month August to June school schedule   This is an exempt position offering excellent benefits including medical, dental, vision insurance; retirement options including Pennsylvania Public School Employees Retirement System (PSERS) and life insurance options.

Education, experience and skills required:

Minimum requirements include either:

• A valid Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) Career Technical Education Intern certificate in 2079-Welding
• Will consider candidates with the following:
• Bachelor’s degree and minimum two (2) years of full time paid work experience (4,000 hours) in the welding trade within the last ten (10) years.
• High School Diploma or equivalent and minimum of four (4) years full time paid work experience (8,000 hours) in the welding trade within the last ten (10) years. 
• A demonstrated ability to work with at-risk populations, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work productively with the agency and residential staff are essential.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are necessary to properly maintain open channels of communication with agencies, school districts, parents, members of higher education institutions, etc.
• Computer experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook email, internet browsers, and artificial intelligence (AI).
• Adept at using virtual meeting platforms such as Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams.
