FIREFIGHTER EXAMINATION ANNOUNCEMENT

(APPLICATIONS LIMITED TO 50)

The Bedford Hights Civil Service Commission announces an examination to establish an eligibility list for the position of entry level Firefighter-Paramedic. The written exam is scheduled for Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at 6: 00 p.m. at the Bedford Heights Community Center, located at 5615 Perkins Rd, Bedford Heights, OH 44146. Registration will be from 5: 30 p.m. - 6: 00 p.m. Applications must be submitted by July 24th. Late applications will not be accepted and no one will be admitted after testing begins. ID required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

" U.S Minimum age of 18 years of age.

" High School Diploma or GED Certificate

" Current Ohio certified Paramedic or proof of enrollment

" Current Firefighter Agility Test in 4 .5 minutes (acceptable locations: Tri-C and Auburn Career Center).

APPLICATION FILING:

" $25 application fee

" Applicants MUST PRESENT a valid photo I.D.

" If applicable: applicants MUST PROVIDE A COPY OF Firefighter II certification or proof of enrollment

" ONLY THE FIRST FIFTY (50) APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED

CONDITIONAL EMPLOYMENT/SCREENING REQUIREMENTS:

Upon passing the written exam with a score of 70% or higher, candidates may be asked to complete an interview. Additionally, applicant(s) selected for conditional offer of employment must be able to pass a background check, polygraph, medical physical, and drug screen prior to appointment. Before certification for appointment candidates must agree to maintain their State of Ohio Paramedic Certification and State of Ohio Firefighter II certification as a condition of employment.
