Project Manager - Substation

Burns & Mc Donnell is seeking a dynamic and driven engineering Substation Project Manager for the Pacific Northwest, based out of Vancouver, WA.

This key role manages and oversees high-impact electrical substation projects across the Pacific Northwest. An ideal fit for a proven engineering project manager who combines technical expertise, business acumen, and strong leadership skills.

Working within the Transmission & Distribution practice, you will oversee substation projects from planning through completion, ensuring projects meet safety, quality, schedule, and financial goals. You'll work with multidisciplinary teams, manage client relationships, guide project execution, and help grow the firm's utility and energy portfolio.

Major responsibilities:

• Responsible for planning, budgeting and establishing/achieving critical project objectives.
• Responsible for the overall success of projects (safety, quality, and profitability).
• Provide management of engineering projects from concept to completion with a basic understanding of siting, permitting, planning, bid phase services, procurement, constructability reviews, and material management.
• Work closely with the Project Team to confirm deliverables and services are being provided to client's satisfaction. This includes coordination with team members located in the Regional and/or Branch Offices.
• Identify project opportunities early and facilitate go/no-go decisions, determine project fees, write proposals, prepare and lead client presentations, and negotiate contracts.
• Support development and maintenance of business plan; lead and support proposal efforts to support profitable growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited curriculum.
• Minimum of 7 years of engineering design and engineering project management experience.
• Demonstrated leadership experience managing complex, multidisciplinary engineering projects.
• Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
• Ability to Travel.
