PT Custodian

Position: Part-Time Custodian Starting Wage: $18.80 per hour Hours: Up to 4 hours per day Schedule: Flexible hours outside of regular school hours, when school is not in session

Position Summary

The Part-Time Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout Mount Vernon School District facilities. This position involves routine cleaning and custodial duties to ensure classrooms, restrooms, and other assigned areas are clean and ready for use by students, staff, and visitors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize school restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, floors, and other surfaces.
• Vacuum classroom floors and other carpeted areas as assigned.
• Empty garbage and recycling containers and dispose of waste properly.
• Sweep, mop, and clean floors as needed.
• Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces.
• Restock restroom supplies, including toilet paper, paper towels, and soap.
• Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of assigned school areas.
• Safely use and store cleaning chemicals, supplies, and equipment.
• Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, or needed repairs to the supervisor.
• Follow established cleaning procedures and safety guidelines.
• Perform other custodial duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Dependable, responsible, and punctual.
• Ability to work efficiently and independently.
• Knowledge of the safe use of cleaning chemicals and equipment, or willingness to learn.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.

Work Schedule

This is a part-time position requiring up to four hours per day. Work hours will be scheduled outside of regular school hours, when students are not in session. Scheduling is flexible, with hours arranged in coordination with the supervisor to meet the district's custodial needs.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive movements for extended periods.
• Ability to operate routine cleaning equipment, including vacuum cleaners.
• Ability to lift and carry cleaning supplies and garbage bags as needed.
• Ability to perform routine custodial tasks safely and effectively.

Supervision

The Part-Time Custodian reports to the Head of Maintenance or designated supervisor.

Employment Information

This position offers a starting wage of $18.80 per hour. Employment is subject to district policies, procedures, and applicable employment requirements.
