Job DetailsDescriptionSchedule: Training Schedule: Department: Biocomputing - 331 Primary Purpose: Contributes to software development projects by performing software programming (primarily) and participating with other software development lifecycle activities (requirements, design, test, documentation, 2nd and 3rd level support). Implements basic programming concepts, including logic constructs and OOP, within standard architectural patterns, such as event driven programming, client/server architecture, and n-tier architecture. Relies on instructions and guidance from senior project team members and from direct supervisors. Essential Functions: Reviews, analyzes, and modifies programming systems including coding, testing, debugging and documenting programs. These programs may include desktop applications, interfaces, web applications, stored procedures, or other software artifacts depending on specific job responsibility. Adheres to ARUP’s enterprise software development policies and departmental software development processes. Develops expertise in applicable software development tools, techniques and environments. Other duties as assigned. Physical and Other Requirements: Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. Mobility: The person in this position needs to occasionally move between work sites and inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Communicate: Frequently and effectively communicate with others. PPE: Biohazard laboratory environment that requires use of personal protective equipment in accordance with CDC and OSHA regulations and company policies. ARUP Policies and Procedures: To conduct self in compliance with all ARUP Policies and Procedures. Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Fine Motor Control: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling. QualificationsEducationRequiredHigh School Diploma or Equivalent or better. PreferredAssociates Degree or better in Computer Programming or related field. Bachelor's Degree or better in Computer Programming or related field. ExperienceRequiredExperience doing basic Linux server administration tasks; bash scripting, Docker deployment, Apache web server installation/management
Interest in data science and working with NoSQL databases such as Mongo DB
Team player that is willing to experiment with new technologies
A Bachelor's degree in related field OR an Associate's degree with one year of applicable work experience OR a high school diploma with two years of applicable work experience
PreferredAssociates Degree in Computer Programming or related field with six years of applicable work experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Programming or related field with four years of applicable work experience
1 year developing microservices using Flask or Django
Basic understanding of Graph QL API design
Working with NoSQL databases such as Mongo DB, Couch DB, or Cassandra
Moderate proficiency with Python. You should know package management, conda virtual environments and decorators
Experience with Amazon Web Service offerings, especially S3, Glacier, EC2, and IAM permissions
Knowledge of cluster computing (HPC, Batch Computing, Scientific Computing)
Basic knowledge of data analysis and modeling algorithms including; data binning/clustering, regression and machine learning
