Wexner Heritage Village is seeking a Director of Nursing to lead and oversee the clinical operations of our skilled nursing facility. This position is responsible for ensuring the highest quality of care for our residents by managing and mentoring clinical managers, driving continuous improvement, and upholding regulatory compliance and best practices across all care settings.
- Oversees the day-to-day operation of the nursing including directing the nursing program, and implementing new policies and procedures as needed
- Develops plans for positive outcomes, including standards, best practices, procedures, protocols, metrics and measures.
- Participate in creating resident care plans and ensure they are followed
- Oversees and is responsible for facility surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies and develops plans of correction and collaboration with the administrator. Responsible for plan implementation
- Assist in planning the nursing services portion of the resident's discharge plan
- Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, auditing, charting, etc. as necessary
- Participate in the selection of residents for admission to the facility with a goal of admissions decisions of twenty minutes or less
- Daily rounds to observe residents and talk with staff to determine if all needs are being met, as well as oversees daily team huddles
- Reviews and analyzes hospital transfer, hospital readmissions, and premature discharges
- Serves as a vital member of the census and growth team to identify and foster key relationships, improve clinical skills, and create outstanding outcomes and resident experiences
- Monitor medication passes and treatment schedules to ensure that medications are being administered as ordered and that treatments are provided as scheduled
- Oversees all programs related to infection control, reporting measures, analysis and follow-up
- Provide direct nursing care as necessary
- Develop and participate in the planning, conducting, and scheduling of timely in-service trainings to promote culture, skills advancement, new initiatives, team building and growth
- Oversees the effectiveness of the orientation program for new employees
- Fosters the development of new patterns of nursing care
- Delivers and directs nursing care in accordance with accepted standards of nursing practice, facility, and departmental policies and procedures, mission, values, and vision
- Establishes and provides continual evaluation of standards and services of the nursing department to maintain and improve the quality of nursing services
- Coordinates and communicates with other departments to plan and ensure the quality of care, life, and service to the residents
- Acts as a liaison with outside providers, such as the pharmacy, lab and x-ray regarding their involvement with the facility
- Assists with resident placements, hospital, and home placements
- Responsible for daily quality outcomes and metric goals
- Works closely with the medical director and attending physician to assure outcomes
- Leads Quality Assurance Process Improvement meetings and identifies and addresses corrective measures
Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio. Minimum of eight (8) years of nursing leadership experience, preferably in a multi-level care setting. Strong knowledge of skilled nursing, long-term care, assisted living, and memory care operations. Proven ability to lead and develop clinical teams. Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and best practices in senior care. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
