Job Description for Director of Advanced Patterning
JOB SUMMARY
NY CREATES is seeking applicants for a Director of Advanced Patterning. The Director of Advanced Patterning will provide senior, director level, technical expertise and leadership of the various Patterning Centers at the NY CREATES Albany Nanotech complex. With expert-level process skills in lithography and etch processing, identify key customers, partnerships and technologies that will grow the current partnerships in Albany as well as grow the customer base in the Albany ecosystem. This position's responsibilities include deep technical insight for best strategic planning and will work closely with executives and resource managers to enable the success of the following, but not limited to the NSTC EUV Accelerator, the High-NA EUV Center, and expanding the world's best patterning capabilities at NY CREATES through targeted partnerships related to a holistic NY CREATES Patterning Center.
Job responsibilities for Director of Advanced Patterning include but are not limited to:
- Identifying and guiding technology development that is accessible and relevant to key partnerships at NY CREATES and which best utilizes the variety of lithography capabilities at NY CREATES
- Interfacing closely with the Senior Director of Technology, the Senior Director of EUV Strategy and Partner Relations and the Technology Directors to satisfy the deliverables and goals for the NSTC EUV Accelerator and high-NA EUV Center
- Owning interactions with material suppliers, OEMs, IDMs and technology product companies to best match NY CREATES's capabilities in EUV, High-NA EUV, immersion lithograph with technologies that foster advanced R&D in the ecosystem
- Studying industry and market trends to intercept process and technology development needs in lithography, etch, metrology to best outfit NY CREATES's Patterning Centers
- Maintain and cultivate a worldwide presence for NY CREATES technology teams at conferences and symposia.
Requirements:
Minimum Requirements for Director of Advanced Patterning
- B.S. degree in Materials Science, Physics, or equivalent Engineering and/or Science discipline from a college or University accredited by the USDOE or internationally recognized accrediting organization AND 15+ years of experience working in the semiconductor industry as a patterning R&D engineer, 5+ years of experience working as an engineering development resource manager and experience with managing customer/partnership programs.
- OR M.S. degree in Materials Science, Physics, or equivalent Engineering and/or Science discipline from a college or University accredited by the USDOE or internationally recognized accrediting organization and a combination of 15+ years of experience working in the semiconductor industry as a patterning R&D engineer and engineering resource manager and experience with managing customer/partnership programs.
- A good understanding of patterning and process development, fabrication and performance. Deep knowledge and experience with metrology, measurements, defectivity, and test are required. Candidate must have good oral and written communication skills, exhibit solid leadership ability; customer interface skills are essential.
- Provide leadership, oversight and direction to direct reports to assure goals, programs, activities, and personnel practices are consistent with and contribute to the Institution's goals and strategies. Design and implement operating strategies, plans and procedures to assure smooth functioning of NY CREATE's 300mm Operations, Engineering and Manufacturing organization. Lead employees for maximum performance and dedication. Complete performance management feedback and goals per requirements.
This position is contingent on the satisfactory completion of a background check; this position may require annual background checks.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS for Director of Advanced Patterning
- B.S. or M.S. degree in Materials Science, Physics, or equivalent Engineering and/or Science discipline from a college or University accredited by the USDOE or internationally recognized accrediting organization and 20+ years of experience working in the semiconductor industry as a patterning development engineer, technical program lead and program manager and as an engineering resource manager.
- Previous experience working for an IDM, OEM and/or advanced patterning material supplier is a strong preference.
- Experience as a team lead to address and solve problems related to industrial customer deliverables and timelines is desired.

Salary Range: $175,000- $220,000/ annual
