Primary Functions:
The Development Officer will manage a portfolio of donor prospects with the capacity to give between $250 and $5,000, while also assisting in the qualification of prospects capable of giving $10,000 or more. This role is focused on donor acquisition, renewal, and upgrade, as well as the discovery of potential major gift prospects. The Development Officer reports to the Associate Vice President (AVP) for Individual Philanthropy and works in collaboration with the Associate Vice President (AVP) for Advancement, supporting Hanover's Annual Giving Program. The Development Officer will manage a portfolio of 200-250 prospects and will contribute to the overall success of the College Advancement team. This individual must work both independently and collaboratively with other Advancement staff, maintaining alignment with the goals and strategies of the broader College Advancement team. The position is remote-eligible with a primary regional focus of Indianapolis, Indiana, Cincinnati, Ohio, or Louisville, Kentucky.
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute strategies to acquire new donors and grow contributions from existing donors, especially within the $250-$5,000 giving range.
- Grow membership in the President's Club and move donors upward in the Moffett Society.
- Identify and qualify major gift prospects, preparing them for transition to the Major Gifts Team.
- Qualify at least 120 prospects annually.
- Conduct a minimum of 60 meaningful visits/contacts per fiscal year.
- Collaborate with Advancement colleagues on cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and long-term engagement strategies.
- Strategically manage travel and time based on revenue potential and cost-efficiency.
- Participate in long-range planning for the Individual Philanthropy Team.

Financial Responsibilities:
- Grow contributions from existing donors.
- Secure a minimum of $30,000 annually for the Impact Hanover Fund.
- Achieve annual fundraising and activity goals as set in collaboration with the AVP for Individual Philanthropy and the Director of Prospect Management.
Other Responsibilities:
- Provide broad support for and participate in activities sponsored by the Office of College Advancement and the College in general.
- Promote a positive image of Hanover College and represent the College in accordance with the College's mission, principles, and strategic plan.
- Support the College's welcoming environment.
- Perform / complete other projects and tasks assigned by the Associate Vice President of Individual Philanthropy and/or the Vice President for Advancement.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel regionally and nationally as needed
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when necessary
- Remote work-eligible with occasional on-campus meeting and event attendance
- Manual dexterity to operate a computer and general office equipment

- Occasional climbing of stairs

Qualifications:
I. Education, Certifications, Training, Experience
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education required
- Minimum of two years experience in fundraising, donor relations, or constituency engagement
- Understanding of the complete donor cycle and proven experience with moves management
- Familiarity with Raiser's Edge/Blackbaud RE NXT is preferred
