POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Donor Investments reports to the Chief Investor Relations Officer and is responsible for the implementation of Come Nears mid-level investment strategy and the management of major investor (donor) relationships ($1M+) to fulfill the mission and vision of Come Near. In addition to implementing major investor cultivation, solicitation and stewardship efforts, the Director of Investments will be responsible for qualifying and building a portfolio of approximately 25-50 prospective investors (donors), regularly tracking fundraising activity, reporting on portfolio progress, and increasing the prospective major donor pipeline. This position will interact with the CEO, organization founders, and Board of Directors.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build a working portfolio of individual major investor prospects and current donors ($1M) to meet the annual fundraising goal.
- Develop customized individual strategies that effectively secure, renew, and upgrade investors gifts.
- Lead the cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and recognition efforts for major investor relationships. Prepare internal collaborators, such as the Chief Investor Relations Officer, CEO, and Board of Directors, to support fundraising activity for major investors.
- Conduct personalized visits with existing major investors and prospects, spending at least 50% of time in the field facilitating cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities.
- Oversee stewardship activities for major investors until a Stewardship Manager is hired.
- Develop and implement strategies to upgrade mid-level investments. Collaborate with all department members to enhance relationships and create greater fundraising and outreach possibilities.
- Prepare written proposals, grant requests, gift agreements, funder pitches, and other materials needed to define, secure, and document major gifts.
- In collaboration with the Database Manager, ensure all fundraising activity is tracked in Salesforce (CRM) and leverage data to inform fundraising activity donor strategies.
- Identify and research new prospective major investors (donors).
- Report major investment fundraising progress to the Chief Investor Relations Officer and leadership.
- Attend team and organizational meetings, activities, and events as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience independently managing a portfolio of major donors giving at the six and seven-figure gift level.
- Proven track record of meeting and exceeding fundraising goals.
- Experience guiding donors through the moves management process (identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship) and proven success of upgrading donors to the next level of giving.
- Knowledge of planned gifts and endowments.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, and a proven ability to engage, motivate and inspire others to action.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Enthusiasm for relationship building, expanding the network of Come Near, and engaging others in the mission.
- Desire to support the work of others, including both staff and volunteers, toward the accomplishment of an audacious goal.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and donor database management.
- 10+ years of front-line experience, with part of that securing 7-figure gifts.
