About This Role: The E-Resources and Acquisitions (E&A) Librarian reports to the Head of Collections and Discovery and oversees the acquisitions of all educational resources for the Mary & John Gray Library. Duties include maintaining subscriptions to databases, e-journals, e-journal packages, and other library-related platforms, licensing eBooks, audiobooks, and streaming films, and overseeing the purchase of print monographs, and other media. The E&A Librarian also utilizes data from e-journal usage metrics as well as other analytic tools to support strategic decision-making in the acquisition and management of e-resources. The E&A Librarian assists the Head of Collections and Discovery with projects, as assigned, and must maintain awareness of changing trends and advances in technology related to database and serials management.
This is a tenure track, 12-month faculty appointment.
What Youll Do Position Responsibilities:
- Oversee the serials budget, vendor performance, and local/shared serials holding database. Manage electronic journal and database subscriptions, including reviewing and negotiating license agreements. Place, track, and receive direct-apply monograph orders.
- Develop new serial applications using MS Excel, MS Access, and other relevant software. Collect, report, and analyze statistical data to support decision-making.
- Work effectively as a member of the Collections and Discovery services department team to develop departmental goals, priorities, policies, and procedures. Assist in hiring and training new employees and serve as department head in the absence of the Head of Collections and Discovery Services.
- Participate in library and university committees and actively pursue opportunities for professional growth. Maintain a record of scholarship, research, and professional service appropriate for a tenure=track faculty member.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the department and librarys mission and objectives.
Key Competencies:
- Familiarity and facility with the use of MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.
- Knowledge and experience in E-resources and monograph management, integrated library systems, including vendor relations.
- Working knowledge of Alma/Primo IL Sor earlier versions.
- Preferred: Record of scholarship and service or the ability to achieve such as appropriate for a tenure-track faculty role.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with professional colleagues, students, and faculty.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Record of achievement in maintaining and developing professional knowledge, skills, and networking.
- Ability to interact effectively and work collaboratively with library and university colleagues.
- Ability for self-direction in setting goals and completing projects.
Physical Requirements: Able to lift 25 pounds and be able to perform a variety of physical tasks including lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, stair climbing, and walking between buildings.

Minimum Qualifications (Education & Experience)
- Masters degree in library or information science from an American Library Association-accredited institution.
- 1 year of experience working in a supervisory type of role (acquisitions, cataloging, etc.) in an academic library technical services unit. Will consider it a relatable experience.
- 6 months of supervisory experience of student employees, staff, or faculty, will consider similar or relatable experience.
