The Fort Collins area, along with Northern Colorado at large, is experiencing growth. The reporter will join a team to cover important aspects of the community. This role involves covering the craft beer industry, including major players such as New Belgium and Odell Brewing Co., as well as smaller breweries. An interest in craft beer, both from a taste perspective and from the business side, is crucial. Northern Colorado's food scene is also expanding, and readers are interested in coverage about local dining. The reporter should be able to identify and report on new restaurants, cafes, bars, and other eateries. There are many exciting festivals in the area throughout the year, including those focused on bicycling, food, music and more (even a parade of corgi dogs). The reporter should be able to report from the field for events like this, blending video, photo and written coverage to provide news consumers a true multimedia experience. Candidates should have excellent writing skills and be proficient with photo and video content creation. Coverage often requires close-up shots and short videos optimized for social media. The ability to manage multiple stories and meet deadlines is essential. Previous food reporting experience and at least two years' experience at a daily newspaper or equivalent media are preferred. Applicants must be available to work evenings and weekends and cover general-assignment breaking news. Relocation is required.
