SALARY Depends on Qualications Description This is paraprofessional work of a varied and highly responsible nature. An employee in a position allocated to this class is responsible for a variety of complex and difficult professional accounting and bookkeeping techniques. Duties require an extensive working knowledge of the organization and programs under the administrator. Technical knowledge and experience in such areas as accounts payable, accounts receivables, cash control, and generally accepted accounting principles are required. Work varies widely in both subject matter and complexity and requires the exercising of considerable initiative and independent judgment. Minimum Qualifications KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS: Knowledge of integrated databases, computer data entry operations and accounting functions. Knowledge of office software such as MS Office and electronic mail. Knowledge of accounting rules and regulations for community colleges. Knowledge of applicable federal regulations. Ability to analyze and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, procedure manuals and to effectively communicate verbally. Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment. Ability to operate small office equipment and multi-line telephone systems. Ability to organize work, set priorities, and meet deadlines. Ability to be innovative and creative to solve problems. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school graduate plus four years accounting or bookkeeping experience. A high school equivalency diploma from the State Department of Education may be substituted for high school graduation. A Bachelor’s degree in a business related area, finance, or accounting preferred. Computer literate.
