Position Overview: We are seeking a passionate, dedicated, and New York State Certified Elementary Special Education Teacher to join our team and lead a 12: 1: 1 special class. The ideal candidate will possess strong instructional expertise, exceptional classroom management skills, and a commitment to supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of students with diverse learning needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement differentiated instruction using district curriculum aligned with IEP goals and NYS learning standards.
- Provide a safe, structured, and supportive classroom environment tailored to students with varying abilities and behavioral needs.
- Collaborate with related service providers, general education teachers, and support staff to deliver cohesive instruction and services.
- Maintain accurate and timely student records, including IEPs, progress reports, and data collection.
- Use evidence-based practices to manage behaviors and support students’ emotional regulation and social development.
- Communicate effectively with families, administrators, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Participate in professional development and school-wide initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Valid New York State Certification in Students with Disabilities, Grades 1–6
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Prior experience teaching in a special class setting, preferably 12: 1: 1, is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to implement effective instructional strategies and behavioral supports.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, equitable learning environment.
Compensation & Benefits: Starting at $47,000, commensurate with experience.
