 The Timberland Regional Library is seeking a candidate with demonstrated supervisory experience to fill the role of Library Supervisor to oversee the Mountain View, Packwood, Salkum, and Winlock Libraries. The Library Supervisor position is directly responsible for daily operations, services, facilities, and personnel of assigned libraries according to TRL Mission, Vision, Strategic Direction, Standards and policy directives. This position performs a variety of administrative and technical tasks related to library operations, including but not limited to scheduling of assigned staff, supervising staff in circulation workflow of library materials, customer service and patron behavior management, finance and budget tasks, and facilities management. Participates, as a leader, in district-wide circulation, facilities, and customer service projects and initiatives. This position reports to a Regional Manager, develops, and maintains strong relationships with the Regional Manager, other Library Supervisors and Administration to ensure effective and efficient operation of library services. The Library Supervisor is responsible for direct supervision of Library Assistants.
- Schedule: Full-Time, 40 hours per week (1.0 FTE).

- Starting Pay: The full pay range for this position is $35.80 - $49.55 per hour. Employees new to Timberland Regional Library typically start at step 1, 2 or 3 of the pay range, depending upon qualification.
The Timberland Regional Library offers a Bilingual Pay Incentive for demonstrated fluency in the following languages: Spanish/Spanish Creole, American Sign Language, and in Thurston County only -- Korean and Vietnamese.

- Serves as building supervisor for assigned libraries; manages staff scheduling and operational workflow. Resolves operations and facility issues and refers to appropriate person or resource when necessary.
- Hires, supervises, monitors, coaches, and mentors the performance of assigned personnel; ensures staff compliance with TRL’s library policies and procedures. Evaluates and provides training to library staff as needed.
- Promotes a collaborative, inclusive, equitable and positive library culture. Resolves staff and patron incidents, problems, concerns, and conflicts under TRL Standards of Conduct, Standards of Performance, Safety Procedures, Disruptive Patron Behavior Policy and Procedures.
- Serves as primary contact and onsite resource for volunteers, vendors, community groups, security, and emergency services.
- Collaborates with Regional Manager and Administration in developing, recommending, and implementing operational and customer service plans, policies, and procedures.
- Establishes and communicates departmental priorities and expectations according to organizational initiatives, directives, standards, procedures and policies.
- Coordinates and provides training to personnel regarding reference, reader’s advisory service, and circulation policies, procedures, and work methods. Provides recommendations and assists in developing and implementing circulation and customer service goals, policies, and procedures.
- Oversees the maintenance of assigned library collections and facilities.
- Participates in Circulation Working Groups and other circulation or customer service related working groups.
- Collaborates with Regional Managers and Coordinating Librarians to ensure successful implementation of library programs and services for patrons of all ages.
- Performs the duties of a Library Assistant, as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Associates degree in a related field, and a minimum of three years of customer service experience, including two years of supervisory experience; OR any combination of education and experience which would provide the required knowledge and skills and allows successful performance of the job.
Licenses, Certifications, and Special Requirements:- A valid Washington State Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record.
- Must pass and maintain a criminal background check (per RCW 43.43).
- The ability to work evenings and weekends and to adapt to schedule changes on short notice.

Physical and Environmental Conditions- Work is performed in a standard office environment, as well as a library environment, and involves regular contact with the public.
- Subject to sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching and lifting objects up to 40 pounds.
- Must be able to push/pull library carts and lift/carry library materials.
- May be exposed to potentially intimidating and/or unreceptive members of the public.
- May work alone in a library facility while patrons are present.
- Occasional travel is required to attend meetings at other sites and locations, or to participate in work-related assignments.
