The Hematology and Oncology Division at VCU Health seeks a full-time NP or PA to join their multi-disciplinary team serving bone marrow transplant and cellular immunotherapies patients on the inpatient service. The APP will collaborate in providing care for patients undergoing stem cell transplant and cell therapies along with the complications of these procedures in the hospital. Shifts will be 12 hours in length with rotating day/night responsibilities. A successful candidate would demonstrate a high level of comfort working both in a multidisciplinary team and independently. Overnight the APP will act independently on the service and use the on-call attending as a resource.
The Nurse Practitioner demonstrates a high level of expertise in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of the complex responses of individuals, families, or communities to actual or potential health problems, prevention of illness and injury, maintenance of wellness, and provision of comfort. This position assists the health care team with the prevention of illness and injury, maintenance of wellness, and provision of comfort. The Nurse Practitioner continues to perform many of the same interventions used in basic nursing practice. The difference in this practice relates to a greater depth and breadth of knowledge, a greater degree of synthesis of data, and complexity of skills and intervention.
