The City of Monroe is now accepting applications for Lateral Entry Level Patrol Officer HIRING PROCESS: The lateral entry hiring process will consist of a panel interview, full background check, and other testing as determined appropriate. *Full-time experience is defined as a minimum of 32 hours worked per week for 9 of the previous 12 months prior to submission of an application or appointment with the City of Monroe. Candidates receiving a conditional offer of employment will be subject to successful completion of the following: Background Investigation Truth Verification/CVSA Physical & Drug Screening Psychological Assessment The hiring process can take 4 to 6 months, up to a full year to complete. Timeline subject to change. Applicants can reapply up to 3 times for the same position. QUALIFICATIONS: Completion of Secondary Education or Equivalent (high school diploma or GED) Completion of Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy One year full-time experience with a law enforcement agency, conducting uniformed police patrol, or other comparable duties with arresting powers while employed by the State of OH or one of it’s political subdivisions. Valid drivers license Applicants that have had disciplinary action in the past 12 months that resulted in suspension or loss of pay, will not be considered. Out of state candidates will be considered if their current certification can be transferred to the State of OH and complete all required training.
