Provide advanced pre-hospital emergency medical care and limited invasive procedures under established protocols and physician direction; assess, stabilize, and transport patients experiencing medical or traumatic emergencies to appropriate medical facilities while ensuring patient safety and continuity of care. ESSENTIAL DUTIES. This is a safety-sensitive position. 1. Emergency Medical Response and Patient Care

ADDITIONAL DUTIES. Other duties as assigned. May be required to work 12-hour or 24-hour rotating shifts as required by department needs. QUALIFICATIONS. A. Education. High school diploma or equivalent. B. Experience. One (1) year of experience in an emergency medical care setting is required. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. C. Education/Experience substitution. In accordance with County Policy. D. Licenses/Certifications. Required at time of application: Valid driver’s license. Must maintain a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record in accordance with County policy. Possess and maintain throughout employment a valid New Mexico EMT-Intermediate license and a current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers certification. Must obtain the following within thirty-six months of hire:
This is a transitional classification not to exceed thirty-six (36) months. Upon completion of all required certifications, the position will be reclassified to Firefighter-Intermediate. The employee must meet all pre-employment standards and qualifications required for appointment to the Firefighter position. Employees who do not meet the requirements within thirty-six (36) months may be subject to separation from employment. E. Other (e.g., post-offer medical exam, polygraph, background check, driver’s license record, etc.). Must pass pre-employment background check and driving record check. Must pass Eye Detect and post-offer medical exam. Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid, federal Department of Transportation (DOT) physical exam certificate.
