TOWNSHIP OF MONTAGUE EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

INTERIM ZONING OFFICER

The Township of Montague is seeking a qualified individual to serve in the position of Interim Zoning Officer to cover responsibilities during a leave of absence.

This temporary role encompasses duties related to zoning review and enforcement, housing inspections for both long- and short-term rentals, and general code compliance. The successful candidate will ensure that all applicable ordinances and regulations are upheld and will work directly with residents, property owners, contractors, and Township officials.

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

· Reviewing and processing zoning and building permit applications for compliance with applicable laws and local ordinances.
· Conducting field inspections and investigations related to zoning matters.
· Issuing notices of violation and following up on compliance matters.
· Performing administrative tasks, including recordkeeping, customer service, and issuance of receipts for permit and registration fees.

Minimum Qualifications:

· Demonstrate knowledge or experience in municipal zoning.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
· Ability to interpret zoning ordinances, read construction plans, and perform field inspections.
· Proficiency with standard office software and systems.
· Valid New Jersey driver’s license required.
· Candidate must be a resident of the State of New Jersey, in accordance with N.J.S.A. 52: 14-7 (New Jersey First Act).

Compensation: Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
